We liked the food at Aldeia Duoro and enjoyed charming service. Modern, trendy interior. Seems to be popular with locals -- always a good sign. Just one block off the main drag.
Two young men run this restaurant trying to cater to a locale clientele and to the more sophisticated eater who comes by. It is unpretentious and yet with notes of delicate invention. The wine choices are excellent!
We were here we it was opened over two years ago. The quality has been maintained. We had a great dinner and expect to repeat.
Wonderful service, modern and refined dishes, Deserts and starters are also good. The only less good thing is that they never have all the menu available.
We rode our bicycles into town. By the time we got situated in our lodging, it was nearing 2pm and we were ravenously hungry. We were concerned that we may have missed the lunch service. We ended up at Aldeia Douro at 2pm, and was offered the set menu for €7 per person. This included a very tasty vegetable soup, generous portion of spaghetti bolognese, 1 large glass of white or red house wine (both of which I tasted, and thought were excellent), dessert (homemade ice cream) and espresso. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Truly a good find.
It is an interesting place! They mix old and regional plates with the new techniques of cuisine, always with regional products when possible! The prices are acceptable and they have a reasonable card of wines! The staff is nice too! Went there a couple of times and the menu is always the same which is something I do not like much! Also happens with some frequency not having some of the options in the menu! Worths the visit without any doubt!
We had a very good dinner, the pasta was tasty and well prepared (we are italian), the octopus was well prepared and not obvious.
We intended to go to " O bruico" but we were told it was closed. So we inquired abount the next good restaurant on Tripadvisor list, ALdeia. A lady showed us the way. Simple decor, almost like entering an empty bar in the far West. We are the only clients. We ask for pasta and shrimps on the menu. Wow! A simple dish but cooked with brio! The pasta and the shrimps were covered with garlic butter and the taste was just great. A simple recipe, you were gonna say...maybe but it never tasted so good .Also, we asked the server whether we could buy a bottle of wine to go. He agreed and he lowered the price of the bottle since we didn't drink it in his place. So, quite convenient, great taste, honest price; we would go back anytime.
