Family of 8 - with a 1 year old baby.We decided to go to this restaurant referred by some friends.We arrived to Jorge do Peixe and were told we would have to wait 30 mins for our table. We waited over 1 hour for it and were sit on a table for 6.The waiter told us the baby pram would have to stay outside the restaurant as it was very busy and was no space for it.We were given an octopus salad, bread, olives and butter we didn't ask for.When we made our order the waiter was extremely rude and said we were not ordering enough food for 7 people (the baby didn't eat) and stormed out.The same waiter came and asked what wine we would want, we opted for beer, we wasn't very happy we didn't pick the wine.The cataplana was nice enough, the monkfish rice was average, lacked taste, was overcooked and had only about 3 or 4 prawns inside. When we finished there was some leftovers - clearly if we followed the waiter advice it would have been far too much food.The desserts some were ok, some were average.We arrived at 20h40 to the restaurant and left at midnight. Spoiled the rest of our night, we had plans to go to the Vilamoura Marina after but by the time we would arrive there everything would be closed.Definitely not going back.
Excellent seafood restaurant away from the main drag of Quarteira. We arrived early and had we not we would have had to join the queue outside which tells you a lot. Our seafood was very good and the service matched. No hesitation in recommending and a restaurant to which we will certainly return.
Having been here a few years ago and impressed by the quality of the fish, we brought some friends for lunch. The service was very slow, considering that the restaurant was not full and when the food did arrive the dishes did not all come at the same time. Our friends had to watch us eat while waiting for their order. When their food did come the portion was very small. The price is very high for what you get and there are other restaurants in the area where you can get much better value for money.
If you want to eat Meat, you can have it, but you should go for Fish! We had cold sardines as a starter, which were great. For the main course we had grilled fish and a Portuguese special in a big pot. That was awesome! The price at the end was a bit higher, but even worth it. You´ll enjoy, for sure!
Quality, seawater fish and sea food, welcoming and efficient staff. We had been here before last year, and it is a reliable option although the prices have increased significantly since last year!
This restaurant is a very ordinary place.I had a starter, main course, glass of wine and a bottle of water. I was charged Euro 49.90 which to me was very expensive for the quality of food I got. I most definately wont be going back there again.
We booked a table by phone and when we arrived they had no table for us. As we arrived early so, we ended up staying in a table from someone who had booked and had not arrived.We noticed from the beginning that the main priority is to sit customers, but after that, the service begins to worsen.Negative points:- We ordered fish soup that never came to the table. We asked them once if they had forgotten and confirmed that they had not. Never came.- We ordered a dose of cuttlefish with paint, but there came a dose (with a normal cuttlefish and a tiny one) without paint.- Some employees only show need to dispatch service.Strengths:- Some very attentive employees with children.- The fish was well made.Overall, overpriced for the quality of the dishes / service provided.I will not repeat the experience.
A great local restaurant away from the inflated prices near the harbour at Vilamoura. Service was excellent, they recommended the fish we should have. We started with Prawns, sardines and cuttlefish (squid) in the middle of the table. Perfect portion sizes for us to share. We were then recommended Golden Bream, which was perfectly cooked and shared between the 6 of us. Wines were recommended and were some of the best we had all week. Highly recommend a visit here.
