This must be about the fifth or sixth time that I have visited the Restaurante Mauritania Real and it never fails to please! We chose a mini Francisinia to begin with little pieces of toast and a crab pate too. These were actually complimentary and very tasty. For our main we all chose hake with potato salad simply fried in a light batter and served quickly and fresh. Excellent. I will hopefully be back. Excellent service and very friendly staff.

Ótima refeição para dois, preços justos, excelente localização. Fomos em um domingo por volta das 19h30 para jantar e não estava lotado. Os garçons falam inglês e a equipe é simpática. Definitivamente voltarei para provar algo diferente.

I have eaten here with friends and colleagues many times over the years and to come again was a bit of a treat. The place is very welcoming and the staff are friendly and attentive and good at their job. Starters just appeared and all really good and we had a large pot of shellfish with rice as a main which was just fantastic. Thanks and hope to come again.

The situation happened on past august the 15th. We were a group of spanish people (5 adults, 3 kids , some of us speak Portuguese fluently, so the capacity of misunderstanding was not an issue, but despite that they pretended to misunderstand. Because of a previous conversation about the delicatessen of Porto in our one-day-trip, we decided to try the dish named ‘Francesinha’ before starting to return to Spain. After searching for a while, we were recommended to try on Mauritania Real restaurant and brewery, so we decided to go. (Francesinha is a kind of sandwich specially rich in fat and very spicy. This is not a touristic restaurant, and the time was correct for supper in Porto, we only wanted a casual refreshment to try a bite of the famous dish, just a few drinks, two francesinhas for sharing and a single plate of meat for sharing the youngsters, we asked the waiters for a table or just a place on the bar, because we could see they were crowded. Here begins the issue. They could have said they were crowded, and we said in advance that we only want a refreshment for sharing, not a great supper. They asked to wait 20’. They brought us two plates of things we had not asked for and the drinks, we were not surprised because lots of restaurants in Galicia serve this ´tapas´ as a gift. We asked for one beer with lemon soda, and it was delivered with lemon peeling. But, at that moment, it was a funny joke or a reminder for being better travellers and not asking for what is not a habit. 40’ after that we asked for our table, because at that moment we started to be on a hurry to return to Spain, (2 hours travel and with a little girl with us they said that it will be ready immediately, and we decided to wait a little bit longer. 10´ after that we decided to leave, and I explained to the waiters that we had to leave, that the waiting was too long. They refuse to give me the account of the beers, first saying that we wouldn't find another place to stay and , on my insistence, by playing the deaf. I tried again with another waiter and he played the deaf also… I was consternated, but the group was still wanting to taste the ‘Francesinha’ and we didn´t wanted the day to end in that way, finally they had the table prepared and we sat down 60’ after entering. We asked for water to drink, one plate of meat for sharing the kids, and two francesinhas for sharing the adults. We were on a hurry then. On the table, there were two plates of a kind of salad with seafood we didn't asked for. 30´after that (1 hour and a half after entering , the youngest girl, my daughter, was asleep and we really wanted to leave. We asked again for the dishes and they said that they would come immediately. They brought an immense plate of meat, 13 slices or so, with an immense plate of beans and a so great plate of rice. We got a bit angry, and I told them that we asked for one plate of meat for sharing during a casual refreshment as we said before -as it was written in their menu for 13 euros- and this was far more than this, they answered that that was not a problem, that we can eat what we want, and we'll see after, we had to become rude by asking directly about the cost of the dishes, ‘do this plate costs what we had seen in your menu?’ They retired it without answering and brought 3 slices of meat instead. We ate the Francesinhas (11 euros each=22 euros , the 2 awake youngsters shared the 3 slices of meat and all of us drank one bottle of fresh water. (2 euros We paid 69 euros, and 24 euros were the cost of the dishes we didn't asked for, already on the table when we sat down and served while we were waiting. We were treated as bad restaurants treat tourists, even speaking the language (we spoke portuguese, not galician and knowing (and respecting a great deal the rules of the city and the country. I can't imagine how they treat tourists without speaking Portuguese language or without taking into account any other non written rule.

This restaurant was gracious to accommodate a large group of 25 for dinner. The restaurant was nicely decorated and the tables prepared with white table coverings for a refined dining experience. The food was most delicious and served family style and quickly. The wait staff was quick, polite and courteous to serve us in a timely manner, yet gave us time to rest and relax when desired. They kept the food coming and the tables cleared of dishes as necessary. If you're looking for a diamond of a dining experience while in the area, I would highly recommend this restaurant located just across from the park and walking avenue. Delicious!!

Para mim é a melhor Francesinha da zona do Porto. Pessoal muito simpático e além disso você pode tomar um Erdinger para beber. Muito bom!!
