My wife and I returned to visit Unhais da Serra, after 20 years, and were surprised by the HUGE and modern hotel SPA that was built there. We did not feel like eating too much, so we asked the locals who referred us to O Cortiço. We were pleasantly surprised by the place. The owner and his wife work there, and they are very nice. His wife handles the grill - She even gave us some chestnuts and homemade sun dried figs as a parting gift. I recommend the place.
este lindo pequeno restaurante tinha uma equipe calorosa e amigável e refeições bem preparadas que eram excelentes e criativas. tão bom encontrar um lugar em uma cidade pequena que seja tão bom. em nossa próxima turnê certamente voltaremos.
altamente recomendado! misturam pratos tradicionais com técnicas modernas e tudo é muito bom. comemos o latido Wellington e ficamos completamente impressionados com a qualidade da refeição. todos na equipe foram super simpáticos e educados, e com certeza voltaremos. a ida a este restaurante foi para nós o destaque na viagem a unhais da serra.
To be honest, I've never eaten such a bad food in portugal. we ordered the Portuguese sausage, one of them should have been crispy, that should have been red and not the fat. after that a tuna steak and a...Bife de vazia are well done. my man tried to eat thunfischsteak, and my bifee was once passado. I was very sad when that happened. Yeah, the wee was good. the dessert was good. those who have servered us were kind. I don't have so high standards, but eating was bad. they should consider renting a professional chef if they want to keep this restaurant. it is very well located. it could have such a nice potential, but cook with another person.
do not miss this place, we were there at the weekend and liked it so much that we both eat there. we were in the nearby hotel and this is a 5 minute walk. the staff is super friendly and very proud of. the restaurant (big energy) eating is great, I recommend the: free row chicken soup (is made by a brothy at the place) cheese sweet pumpkin dessert. sounds stage? try it and let me know (pictures) the main dishes are all great!
We struggled with the restaurants in Unhais because they all seemed to be serving traditional meat or fish and when you have a vegetarian wife, this will not do. Thankfully O Cortico came to the rescue with two vegetarian options and we were off to...the races. Generous portions (of food and wine by the glass) with some interesting combinations of vegetables (thankfully making a change from the omni present and boring salad) and, would you believe, a sauce (unheard of in most Portuguese kitchens). So a thoroughly enjoyable meal and evening was had and I wish them all success for the future. However, sorry guys, but I did not like the home-made aqua com gas. A bit metallic to my taste. Lovely bright and inviting setting with no ancient souls discussing the price of wool in the corner.
Friendly staff. Good food. The recommended dishes didn't disappoint. One starter, 2 main courses and desserts around 50 60 euros.
The starters are very creative and tasty. The main dishes are good and the deserts are fantastic. I recommend doce de requeijão com abóbora. The service is very friendly.
