Restaurante Cabrestante em Serrado Da Igreja

Me and my girlfriend went there for fast dinner. What we got was the most unpleasant dining experience ever. Place was full of roaches, atleast the insides of it. Eventually we had go to the outside to eat our pretry mediocore meal. Meanwhile the staff was panicking and cleaning the place up in a haste. We even managed to get few roaches with us in our backpacks. Avoid like plague.

Great location on the sea, reasonable sized terrace too. Waitresses were nice and polite. We went for lunch, sunny day. However it took more than 45 minutes to wait for fries and the daily fresh fish, unfortunately burnt. We thought we were alone, but other clients complained about waiting for 1h30. Neighbors waited 20 minutes to get their water.

If we hadn't read about this place in a guidebook we would probably not have entered. At first sight, it looks like a canteen or cheap fast food joint. However, it is far better than that.The waiters might be a bit uninspired, but the kitchen is not. We had the limpets and mussels for starers. We loved it. For mains we had the mixed grill fish. Two good sized pieces of fish (a scabbard, and another), and a whole sea brim (I think) per person. Just fried on the grill with parsley and garlic - that can't be wrong.To top it off, it is more reasonably than the place in the tourist districts in Funchal and at least as good.

Readers of my reviews will realise that venues used extensively by the locals, as well as tourists, are more our scene where we can relax and take our time through numerous courses!An hour after landing in Madeira we were eating lunch at the pre-chosen Restaurante Cabrestante and thoroughly enjoying the knowledgeable banter of the waiter, the quality of the dishes and the general ambience of the area and restaurant. We also found, but rarely remembered thereafter, the large portions of Madeirian courses!Thoroughly recommended here would be the lapas, the best we ate during our holiday.Unfortunately we were staying far to the west of Madeira and thus did not return but would definitely have done so if it were feasible.

After visiting the whale museum we went into town for a quick bite. Ended up in Cabrestaurant. We took the steak and fried egg. Steak was just a little overdone, but overall it was really nice. Lots of tourists from different country's and the waiter (maybe owner) could speak then all.

Came across this restaurant on the front at Canical. Super sea views, even planes! Had a salad and some prawns . Super food and service fantastic. Nice place to relax and just sit and watch the sea.

Had lunch here yesterday. Both my wife and I king prawns together with salad and chips. Washed down with some nice wine. Out desert was creme caramel again very nice. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would go back again.

Lovely place we didn't read about it on trip advisor. We just came across it and decided it looked ok. It was very ok. The food was lovely and she staff very friendly. Definitely would return. Good price as well.
