This restaurant was recommended by some friends and as my parents are quite keen fishies thought we would give it a goWhitebait to share to start and we could have shared them with half the town there were that many, very nice as wellI had a seafood rice dish shared, and there was also a dorade and a chicken dish for the none fish eater Apparently the Dorade was excellent as was the grilled chicken - as far as the seafood dish was concerned it was packed with everything you can imagine, was so tasty and even after 3 wines, 2 beers, Barry and coffees it was less the equivalent of £70 Typical local eatery, no frills, no excessive fanciness but the port is 100 yards away and all the fresh fish is on display - well worth a visit
Dish of the day is your best bet to save confusion! English not spoken! This is great value at about 8 Euros. Probably grilled fish, soup to start, etc, and a small jarro of wine. You will do well to get a table at peak times but it is well worth it. The real Portugal. Brilliant.
Absolute best restaurant for clams (ameijoas). Very fresh local fish at affordable prices. One of our ho to places while in and around Tavira.
We came here after a recommendation from a local, picturesque little back street and there are entrances back and front. Very reasonable dish of the day, grilled fish. Octopus seems to be a tradition in Santa Luzia and our waitress recommended the oven baked one. We had one of each. Fish nice but octopus an acquired taste perhaps.
This was another great surprise in Sta.Luzia. It lies on a small back street with no special advertisements on the wall. We were driven by a local and you can easily spot the locals having their meals here: very good sigh indeed! The food was very good and the staff was also very friendly and helpful. The prices are average for the neighborhood. Since we had a great lunch here I cannot say less than: absolutely recommend, I hope I’m coming back for the next year!
Typical Portuguese humble restaurant. The owners could be more gentle and welcoming, but after being there you forget this first impression. It's a familiar business, from people that know really well how to treat fresh fish and seafood. A mandatory place to go!
We went there for lunch and both the grilled sardines and Arroz de lingueirao where good. Also the peixe rei is recommended. The rabejada although good had too much berbigão and not enough clams. All in all a good restaurant, specially for lunch
If you want an authentic experience, go to Alcatruz. Hidden in the back streets of Santa Luzia, I've seen this little family-run joint become more and more popular each year.It's hot, busy and slightly chaotic but the food has soul.My personal fave is ameijoas with vinho branco a pressão.Book in August or go really early to get a spot.
