Off the beaten track, but really worth discovering, and just a seven minute walk from The Casino, the Morgadinha offers a truly memorable dining experience.The amazingly talented year old chef de cuisine Felipe, ably supported by his co chef, Dora, and working in close harmony with the skilled maitre d', also named Felipe, produce dishes to delight the eye and stimulate the taste buds.The Valentine's night dinner was certainly the finest meal we have ever enjoyed, anywhere.Four superb courses, each matched with a truly special Portuguese wine, were truly sensational. I chose turbot on a bed of beetroot risotto trimmed with asparagusas my main course, my wife went for the meat option, a beautifully cooked veal fillet matched with cauliflower gratin. The wine choice was either fine white, or red Douro. Both were wonderful.The amuse bouche was a delight and paired with a glorious sparkling rose, the starter was crab ravioli in crispy seaweed, matched with a crispy green wine, the pudding a delightfully original yoghurt confection and came with a very elegant gin based cocktail.The waiting staff here are also very accomplished, and add so much to the evening.

Attached to the superb five star Quintinha de Sao João, this restaurant is an absolute must for serious lovers of fine food, beautifully presented, and expertly cooked.The menu offers an excellent choice of European and Portuguese dishes, as well as some exotic Goan specialities.The ambiance is calm and relaxing, and the service is exceptionally good, discrete and very poised.The wine list has been thoughtfully put together and offers some of the very best of the Portuguese regions and their producers. The restaurant is fastidiously managed and overseen by the excellent Felipe, and has become a firm favourite of mine, since discovering it last year.

Both were wonderful. the amuse beech was a joyful and paired with a glorious sparkling rose, the starter was crab ravioli in crispy seetang, with a crispy green wein, the pudding a wonderful original yogurt dress and came with a very elegant gin-based cocktail. the waiting staff here is also very well done and add so much to the evening.

this restaurant is an absolute must for serious lovers of fine food, beautifully presented and skillfully cooked. the menu offers an excellent selection of European and Portuguese styles as well as some exotic goan specialties. the ambiente is quiet and relaxing, and the service is exceptionally good, discreet and very poised. the wine list has been carefully combined and offers some of the best Portuguese regions and their producers. the restaurant is managed by the excellent felipe quickly and outdated and has become a firm favorite of me since it was discovered last year.

Portuguese and goan dishes! one of the owners' mother is of goa, so it is authentic. we stay in the hotel, but the restaurant is also open for non-residents. my companion had a filet steak beautiful meat, nicely cooked, but 'medium' came more rare than in Britain so allow when ordering. beautiful real chips. I had a wonderful goan garnelen curry (quite spicy with rice and broth. all very fill no need for starter. a bottle of a special red wine they arrived for the new year. quiet, civilized atmosphere. sensitive and friendly service. all for e62 for two, before tipps. highly recommended. btw, there is also a sophisticated child menu if you have any. update. we were already back and had: chamucas de legumes (gemüsesamosas, house made tamarillo and pfeffersoße (as joint starter risotto congumelos (mushroom risotto, truffle oil, crispy mushrooms and cirschtomaten). beautiful. bodiao confitado (rockfish confit) actually a delightful local applieshead bream, alias dorade goldkopf, understood? with water and a bottle of Portuguese wein came before the tip after e61. even better recommended. try a madeiran cocktail in the hotel bar beforehand.
